Tour Overview
This 10-day, 9-night trip runs a loop through Morocco, starting in Casablanca and heading north through Rabat, Asilah and Tangier before turning inland to Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Meknes and Fes. From there it crosses to the Sahara at Merzouga, then continues through Toudra and Dades Gorges, Ouarzazate and Ait Benhaddou to Marrakech. Most days are spent travelling by car with a driver, with stops along the way for sightseeing, walks and visits. Medina days in Fes and Marrakech are done on foot, with a local guide in each city. The Sahara night is spent in a desert camp after a camel trek. The last stretch takes you to Essaouira on the coast, then back via Safi and El Jadida, where you visit the Portuguese Cistern, before finishing in Casablanca or Marrakech.
Our take
Accommodation for the first night in Casablanca is not included, so plan that yourself. Expect long drives between stops; a local guide is provided in Fes and Marrakech, and an airport transfer is available as an option on the last day.
Who it's for
This trip suits travellers who want to see many Moroccan cities, gorges and the Sahara in one loop and are comfortable spending long stretches in a car. It is less suited to anyone who dislikes long drives, riding a camel or sleeping in a desert camp.
