Tour Overview
This is a six-day, five-night safari in Tanzania that starts and ends in Arusha. You travel by safari vehicle through Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with game drives on most days. The first two days are spent in Tarangire and Lake Manyara, where the trip's highlights include baobab trees, flamingos and tree-climbing lions. The middle of the trip is given to the Serengeti, with a sunset game drive on day three and a full day of game drives on day four, both based at the same camp for two nights. On day five you leave central Serengeti for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and on day six you descend into Ngorongoro Crater before returning to Arusha. Nights are in tented camps and lodges, and the big five are among the animals the trip is built around.
Our take
Expect early mornings and a lot of time in the vehicle. Hotel pick-up in Arusha and drop-off at a hotel of your choice are included, and picnic lunch boxes are provided on the road.
Who it's for
This trip suits young adults and seasoned travelers who are comfortable with a full schedule of game drives. It is less suited to anyone who does not want early starts or long hours in a vehicle.
